Philips Hue: all new lights ship Matter over Thread

Hueblog confirmed Sep 9 what the IFA floor implied: every new Philips Hue light, bulb, and light strip supports Matter over Thread, including the Hue × Nanoleaf wall-light controller. Direct Matter pairing is real for simple lamps and outdoor sconces; gradient products still need the Hue app for full color features because Matter does not yet carry gradients.

That sits on top of Signify’s June concurrent multiprotocol plan with Silicon Labs: select MG26 / SiMG301 bulbs will eventually run Zigbee and Matter over Thread at once via a later software update. Today, commission-time choice still applies on those chips. Hue Secure battery camera quietly moved to 2K; Apple Home camera support is still “working on it,” with no date.

Practical takeaway for a local stack: Bridge + Hue app remains the full-feature path; Matter-over-Thread is the interoperability on-ramp for non-gradient fixtures.

What happened
Heise’s IFA wrap: TP-Link plans end-of-September hardware revisions of Tapo C560WS, C260, and C660 Kit (marked v2.0 / v2.6) with more compute and memory for Matter camera code. Housings stay the same. Ecosystem reality check: among major platforms, only Samsung SmartThings currently speaks Matter cameras; Apple/Google/Amazon are not there yet. Aqara still the only prior Matter camera shipper called out in the piece.
Why it matters
Matter cameras leave the slide deck and get SKUs with a calendar date — still gated by controller support outside SmartThings.

Shelly ThreadLink — full TCP/IP over Thread for Gen4

What happened
Missed in Tuesday’s IFA-close brief: opt-in Gen4 firmware that runs a full TCP/IP stack (UDP + TCP) over Thread so Matter, Shelly Cloud (via border-router NAT64), and peer Shelly RPC can share one low-power radio — no Wi-Fi credentials on the device. Free; roll out ~3 months after the Sep 3 announce (roughly December). Needs a Thread border router for cloud/app; device-to-device scenes stay in-mesh. Dedicated HA module promised beyond Matter’s data model.
Why it matters
Most vendors treat Thread as Matter transport only. Shelly is treating Thread as the network.

What happened
Third September beta: audio/i2s and micro wake-word lock fixes, MQTT light brightness discovery restore, Dallas 85 °C reset filter, BLE client Established reporting, Device Builder 1.14.5, noise-c / libsodium bumps, OTA chunk-ack retry, sendspin codec preference list. Stable remains 2026.8.x until the monthly cut.
Why it matters
Beta channel polish ahead of 2026.9 stable — not a production jump yet.

Home Assistant Core still on 2026.9.1

What happened
No 2026.9.2 as of this morning. Latest remains 2026.9.1 (Sep 5) after 2026.9.0 (“There’s room on this bus,” Sep 2): Modbus UI device integrations, Matter network map, Security dashboard alerts/favorites, Activity “why it changed,” Cloud STT Labs.
Why it matters
Operators stay on the .1 patch train; monthly feature story unchanged.

What happened
No 2.15 yet. 2.14.1 (Sep 3) remains latest after 2.14.0’s device batch; cover/expose hotfixes still the reason to prefer .1 over .0.

What happened

Shelly Wall Display 2.8.0 still rolling out

What happened
T3 and other outlets are still amplifying Tuesday’s dual-role Matter OTA (X1i/X2i/XL/U1/S1/S2/XT as controller + device). Thread devices still need a separate border router. Unchanged from the 8 Sep brief; noted here because the press wave continued past IFA close.
