Philips Hue: all new lights ship Matter over Thread
Hueblog confirmed Sep 9: every new Philips Hue light, bulb, and strip supports Matter over Thread — including the Hue × Nanoleaf wall-light controller. Gradients still need the Hue app; concurrent Zigbee + Thread is a later Silicon Labs CMP update.
Direct Matter pairing is the story for simple lamps and outdoor sconces. Gradient products still route feature-complete control through the Hue app because Matter does not yet carry gradients. The Bridge remains the full-feature path; Matter-over-Thread is the interoperability on-ramp.
Signify’s June concurrent multiprotocol plan with Silicon Labs still sits in the background: select MG26 / SiMG301 bulbs will eventually run Zigbee and Matter over Thread together. Today those chips still force a commission-time choice. Hue Secure’s battery camera quietly moved to 2K; Apple Home camera support has no date.
Bridge + Hue app for full features; Matter-over-Thread for interoperability on non-gradient fixtures.
